Tanya is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology with over 15 years of experience assessing, evaluating, and treating children and adolescents with a range of disabilities. She specializes in working with children who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, mood disorder, anxiety disorder, intellectual disability, and learning disabilities. While Tanya has worked mostly in the school setting, she also has experience conducting developmental evaluations with toddlers and providing mental health evaluations in a clinical setting. Tanya has expertise in providing researched-based practices and targeted recommendations to assist with behavior management across settings.
Tanya is passionate about differential diagnoses and helping clients understand strengths and weaknesses in any disability. Tanya utilizes evidence-based assessments that will result in a comprehensive evaluation and will provide an accurate diagnosis along with school-based, home-based, and community recommendations. Tanya conducts evaluations at Missouri City Family Counseling with Dr. Lindsay Asawa as part of a multi-disciplinary team. She is also able to assist parents with learning about Texas Education Agency (TEA) special education eligibilities, services, and procedures through workshops, webinars, or community events. Her overall goal is to help parents and clients identify a proper diagnosis so they can create the most appropriate treatment for their child and family.
